1. What is Agarwood (OUD)?

It is rumored that the formation of Agarwood in Aquilaria trees contains many mysteries. Agarwood is created by Heaven Scent going with the wind, fall into the wounds on Aquilaria trunk and mix into resin from such wounds. Then, it’s nurtured by rich soil, sunshine, sea breezes and other natural conditions, called the Spirit of Heaven and Earth.

a. Agarwood with religion

  • Buddhism

According to the Dharma Sutra (Generation19th - Dharma Master of Merit), monks or nuns who repeat Dharma Sutra, or read, or chant, or say, or write will receive eight hundred merits in the Eyes, one thousand and two hundred merits in Ears, eight hundred merits in the Nose, one thousand two hundred merits in Tongue, eight hundred merits in Body, one thousand and two hundred merits in Mind. Using these merits, solemnly, their six bases are purified and they can enjoy various fragrance, especially agarwood fragrance from great celestial realms


Agarwood (chips or powder) is used to burn while meditating, chanting and other sacred rituals. Buddhists use the agarwood bracelets of 108 beads when chanting Buddha's recitation


  • Catholicism

After suffering from crucifixion, the body of Jesus was marinated with a mixture of molasses and agarwood. Agarwood was praised 5 times in the Bible as one of the most aromatic, noble aromas; Agarwood appeared in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, in particular: the volume Numbers 24: 6; volume of Psalm 45: 8; volume Proverbs 7:17; volume Song 4:14; volume John 19:39
